I like to work with ink and minimal other media on paper. This creates simplicity that makes the work easy to look at and process, without having to look too close. However, I also appreciate the detail of pattern and occasionally include it in my work. Any color schemes I use tend to have few colors.
Often, I draw just for the sake of drawing to create a finished product that I like. If I’m feeling ambitious, though, my work may deal with topics of mental health or the thought process in general. Otherwise, I may portray a character that I've created and try to show something about them through the piece so that the viewer gets a sense of who this is. The clunky titles are usually more indicative of the meaning, and might clarify the goal of the piece. Even if the viewer doesn’t extrapolate the same idea I was thinking of, that doesn’t matter to me. The main reason I do art is just because I like to. In most of my work, I aim to create a delicate atmosphere. A general lack of extensive detail and use of a simple color scheme aids in this. The goal feeling I want most of my work to emit is quiet, gentle, soft, or empty. This is purely personal preference, and not really associated with content or meaning. Rather, it is just the mood of an illustration that I strive to achieve.
